MRRD signed the contracts for implementation of 259 development projects costing two billion and 147 million AFN across the country
Associate Professor Mujib Rahman Karimi, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, on Saturday (September 25) signed contracts for 259 development projects in various sectors with development councils and some private companies.
Within the framework of these projects, for the first time, 107 development projects have been considered for the Kechi families (nomadic) of Afghanistan.
These projects include; the construction of rural roads and car way bridges, provision of drinking water and water for agriculture, construction of protective walls and water canals.
The cost of the mentioned projects is more than 2 billion and 147 million Afghanis which be implemented by the Rural Access, Regional Programs Coordination Office, water supply and sanitation and the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Programs of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. (MRRD).
At the ceremony which was held on this occasion H.E Mr. Karimi said that ,These projects are going to be implemented all over of Afghanistan, 32 provinces ( Badakhshan, Bamyan, Balkh, Parwan, Panjshir, Khost, Kapisa, Faryab, Logar, Zabul, Herat, Badghis, Baghlan, Ghor, Kabul, Kunar, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Sar e pul, Kandahar, Takhar, Laghman, Samangan, Jawzjan, Farah, Helmand, Nimroz, Paktika, Daikundi and Nimroz provinces ) And during their implementation, 1 million and 569 thousand working days will be created and more than one and a half million people will be benefited.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said: "The majority of these projects are funded from the national budget of the Government of Afghanistan"
But 12 projects worth 85 million Afghanis will be funded by the Asian Development Bank and 11 projects by Germany under the Afghanistan Economic Basis Development Program.
It is noteworthy that these projects are usually planned and designed for a financial year. But depending on the volume of projects can be more than a year if needed.
