Acting Minister of MRRD Oversees Construction Work of Qadis Large Dam in Badghis Province
Qadis District, Badghis – Haji Mohammad Yonus Akhundzada, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), along with his delegation, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work of the Qadis Large Dam in Badghis province. The visit was also attended by Haji Hafiz Mohammad Amin Jan Omari, the Governor of Badghis, the Provincial Police Chief, and several other local officials.
The Qadis Large Dam, located approximately 70 kilometers from the provincial capital Qala-e-Naw, plays a crucial role in controlling the flow of the Qadis River and preventing floods in the region.
The dam's water reservoir capacity is estimated to be around 3 million cubic meters, and the project is being constructed at an estimated cost of 12.5 million U.S. dollars under the Ministry's development budget. The dam is being built at an elevation of 32 meters.
A Vital Project for Qadis District
The Qadis Large Dam is a vital and community-benefiting project that is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of the rural population in Qadis district. The completion of the dam will help enhance local agriculture and livestock farming, improve the economic conditions of the people, and contribute to the overall development of the region.
Upon completion, the dam will irrigate 1,400 hectares of agricultural land, providing new employment opportunities in the agricultural sector for the local population. It is also expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the irrigation network in Qala-e-Naw city, further boosting the overall infrastructure and water storage capacity in the region.
