The Livelihoods promotion In the Tajik-Afghan Cross-border Area (LITACA) Local Project Appraisal Committee (L-PAC) Meeting held at the MRRD conference hall In presences of the programs Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Deputy United Nations Development Program , Heads of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, representatives of Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry, and online participation of Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the Deputy Minister of UNDP in Tajikistan, and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Kabul, Dushanbe and Tokyo,.
"The goal of the LITACA project is the sustainable and equitable growth of border areas, and the project has contributed to local economic development and has increased employment opportunities in Afghanistan and Tajikistan ," said Mr. Popel Habibi, the Programs Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
Mr. Habibi added that LITACA has helped the villagers in creating trade growth in border areas, improving public infrastructure and capacity building sectors. According to the Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the livelihood development project in the Afghan-Tajik border areas will be developed in the third phase, considering the previous achievements of the project and the needs of local people in the border areas of the two countries.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan also praised the LITACA project and thanked those involved and sponsors of the project and promised to cooperate in all its implementation.
It’s worth mentioning that the LITACA project has been extended for 4 other years and is scheduled to continue its activities in the Afghan-Tajik border areas.
