Japan commits to implement third phase of livelihood development project in Afghan-Tajik border areas (LITACA-III)
H.E Associate Mujib Rahman Karimi the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development on Tuesday afternoon met in his office with Mitsuji Suzuka the Japanese Ambassador in Afghanistan.
In the meeting The Japanese ambassador said that his four years working period in Afghanistan has been finished and he is leaving the country with good memories. . Mr. Suzuka added that the focus of Japan's cooperation with the Afghan people is only through the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development; because this ministry is the only source of communication with the people in the villages.
The Japanese ambassador also said that if the peace talks are concluded, Afghan refugees will certainly return to the country and the internally displaced will return to their areas, in that case Japan's cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development will be increased.
According to Mr. Suzuka, the effectiveness of the livelihood development program in the Afghan-Tajik (LITACA-II) border areas has enabled them to be prepared for the third phase of the program as well.
While Welcoming the Japanese Ambassador, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Mujib Rehman Karimi, said that the friendship between Japan and Afghanistan is historic and the Japan's assistance to the Afghan people is invaluable without any expectations.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development added: “focusing on Japan's aid for young people, women and poor people is significant and valuable and the livelihood development program in the border areas has been able to strengthen the rural economy in the border areas."
Mr. Karimi also thanked Japan for its cooperation in improving the capacity of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and said that 42 employees of the Ministry have been able to complete their master's degree with the help of Japan, which has increased the capacity of the Ministry.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development added that he has had a very good relationship with the Japanese Embassy since his nearly three years of work in MRRD and he requested for the continuation of this relationship and cooperation.
