Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Program (Ru-WatSIP) is working in the structure of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development MRRD as one of the national Program. The main responsibilities of this Program are provision of safe potable water and sanitation facilities as a basic need for allover rural inhabitants in the country.
In this program donors such as USAID, UNICEF, UNHCR, SDC, DFID, Japan Embassy, UAE and UNDP are providing financial assistance to MRRD for capacity building and implementation of water supply projects
Among the others UNICEF, is one of the main donors for MRRD provided support for implementation of Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation (WES) projects in schools and Health Care Facilities (HCF) alongside with assistance in capacity building within MRRD and for the sector.
For ensuring the objectives set in the project document are being achieved through the planned activities in provinces, there is need for hiring Provincial Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Officer.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Directly responsible for implementation of field based sanitation and hygiene program programs in his/her related province
Supervise and management of the field staff and their activities
Assure effective and appropriate use of, training manual , picture cards , IEC materials in the target areas
Supervise& monitor the distribution and use of IEC materials in the target areas
Directly responsible for reporting from the field activities and achievements
Sharing new lessons learnt (from the field) with Kabul office
Involved in the implementation of Knowledge Attitude Practice (KAP) survey at the target areas
Conduct health, hygiene& sanitation training sat the provincial level
Work closely (jointly) with the master trainers coming from Kabul for mutual support
Assist Ru-WatSIP team visiting the field level activities
Follow up on project progress to achieve set objectives in a given time frame
Sustain coordination with pertinent government and none government agencies and attend related meetings on regular bases at the provincial, district and community level
Accomplish the given assignments appropriately and in timely manner
Carry out any other assignment as advised by the supervisor
Compile data collected from HH, village and districts on monthly base and submit quarterly progress report.
Qualifications/ Experience, Skills & Abilities Required:
The provincial Provincial Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Officer should have at least bachelor degree from a recognized institute
At least three years of field experience in one of the WASH packages (water, sanitation or hygiene)
Experience in CLTS and Family Health Action Groups is favorable
Experience in working with community and community mobilization
Familiarity with cultures of different Afghan communities
Very good interpersonal communication skills
Very good teaching/lecturing skills
Basic information regarding Afghanistan MoPH BPHS system
Ability to conduct health and hygiene related trainings
Ability to implement hygiene and sanitation programs at the community level
Must be computer literate and familiar with basic computer software including MS Office and internet use
Ability to supervise and manage a team
Must be able to communicate well in Pashto, Dari and English
The both male and female candidates must have the ability to travel to provinces of our intervention
The Provincial Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Officer will report to Senior Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Officer
