Government’s Response Conference to the Nation

 On Monday (February 24, 2020) H.E Mujib Rahman Karimi the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), presented information regarding the  activities of this Ministry during the Government’s Media Response Conference at the Government Media Center .

  Mr.Karimi said that during the solar current year, MRRD implemented 5279 development projects in 34 provinces of the country with spending of its 96 % normal   budget and 93, 02 % of development budget. These projects which have been implemented in the sectors of energy, water supply, irrigation, transportation, education and rural economic development, created 9, 2 million lobar days and more than 11 million villagers have been benefited from them.

The Minister of  Rural Rehabilitation and Development added that currently the implementation process of 8761 other projects, with  creating 16 million lobar days and benefiting 15 million villagers  is ongoing in the country .  According to Mr. Karimi the construction work of 18.178 Km of the Kuner’s 50- km protective wall project, is under process and surveying of around 15 km of it, is completed. During this period, more than 62 thousand working days have been created and 1569 hectares of agricultural land have been protected from the dangers of floods and river watersheds.

 With the construction of this wall which will be built by special order of H.E Mr. President, the destruction of agricultural lands on both sides of the river will be prevented and 5200 hectares of the agricultural lands worth of 27 billion AFNs will be cultivated. This project also provides permanent job for 15000 villagers.

MRRD’s Minister also said that , based on Arghandab  join projects , this Ministry will construct 129 irrigation networks in Arghandab, Zhearai , Daman , panjwahi and Shahwali kot districts of Kandahar province . These projects will cover 86 thousand hectares of land on a regular basis, while creating 1, 5 million lobar days, will create 8500 permanent jobs.

The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development added that the construction work of 225 schools under the Eqra projects have been completed in 17 districts  of the country and 715 school projects will be completed soon, in addition with the total cost of 50 million $ funding by Saudi Arabia , 200 schools will be constructed in Kuner and Paktia provinces .

 H.E Mr. Karimi also said that the Women Economic Empowerment Rural Development Program (weerdp ) of MRRD has created 9810 loan and saving unions  by covering 950  villages in 12 provinces of the country and so far, 32  million Afghans have been collected in these unions.

The Minister of MRRD stated that during the solar year (1398) 500 social development councils have been created within the framework of the Citizen’s Charter National Priority Program and around $50 million was allocated to improve the economic situation of Kuchi nation.

It is worth to be stated that the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development plans for  the next year  to implement 6000 development projects, construction of 400 kilometers rural road, 900 meters bridge and maintenance of 10000 Kilometers other road projects.
