"I Provided my Personal Land to the School Building for the Future of my Children"

Abdul Satar Kahdistani is one of the tribal elders of Kahdistan village in Enjil district of Herat province. He has donated about a jerib (2,000 m2) of his personal land to a school building constructed by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP). He said that lack of knowledge is the key reason of adversity in the country that is why he has given the ownership of his personal land to the MRRD/CCNPP for the construction of the school building for his community children.

While having tears in his eyes from happiness, Mr. Kahdistani expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of the school building project in his community.

He said: “One of my dreams in the life was to have a school building one day in our village where our children could study in a safe environment. Thanks to Allah – my dream has finally come true due to consistent efforts made by of our Community Development Council (CDC) and the Citizens’ Charter Program. Now, we have a beautiful school building with all facilities which guarantee the future of our children.”

“More than one thousand male and female students are currently studying in the eight-classroom-school building in two shifts in Kahdistan village. I feel very comfortable and proud when I see my village children children go to school built on my personal land. It is a great honor for both me and my next generation that I have donated my personal land to the school building”, added Kohdistani.

The Kahdistan primary school currently attended by around one thousand boys and girls has recently been handed over to the community. According to local residents, the students had a lot of difficulties in terms of their access to a proper school building in the past. Fortunately, they have been able to overcome these problems upon completion of the school building financed by the EQRA (Education Quality Reform in Afghanistan) Project under the MRRD/CCNPP in their community.
