Generating Employment Opportunities for Village Women

The Community Development Council (CDC) formed through the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) in Korak Uzbekia village in center of Sar-e-Pul province has shown great initiative by establishing a female tailoring course in the village in order to train local women in-house.

The CDC Secretary said: “In the past, the women used to go to the city center to sew their clothes by tailors. They have been able to solve this difficulty once the tailoring course was established in our community. Moreover, the establishment of the course has helped a number of village women find work within their own community and satisfy their families’ daily needs to a great extent.”

Miss Dil Jan 28, a member of Korak Uzbekia CDC Education committee has been appointed as a trainer in this tailoring course. In cooperation with her students, Miss Dil Jan could manage to purchase a couple of sewing machines and other necessary equipment, needed for the tailoring course. “At first, I started working for the tailoring course along with eight other CDC sub-committees’ members in our community. Fortunately, most of the village women and girls are currently willing to participate in this course with such a great interest.”
