About Ru-WatSIP/MRRD:

Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme (Ru-WatSIP) is working in the structure of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development MRRD as one of the national program. The main responsibility of this Program is provision of safe potable water and sanitation facilities as a basic need for allover rural inhabitants in the country.

In this programme donors such as UNICEF, MoF and SAARC are providing financial assistance to MRRD for capacity building and implementation of water supply projects.

Recently Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development/ Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme, through MOF funding launched National large scale project as construction of Qala-i-Naw water supply project, which will be a city network distribution system in Qalai naw city of Badghis province. The implementation will be carried out by construction company (CC) where the daily supervision and regular monitoring is being done by Ru-WatSIP/RRD technical Team.

To ensure that the projects are implemented with quality and planed objectives as per the project document, there is need for hiring a Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Implementation of Mechanical system including, external and internal system.
Check the Implementation of plumbing system, water system
Estimating and preparing BOQ for various kind of mechanical drawings on project site
Ensure the water system is properly implemented on the site
Checking all site mechanical activities for compliance with client’s specification and scope of work
Preparation submittals and review for mechanical system supplies and plumbing system requirements.
Checking mechanical system designs of scheme for compliance with international codes (IPC) and providing shop drawings for any changes in the system.
Holding overall responsibilities of plumbing and mechanical systems of the project and playing the role of key point of contact in the mentioned field for client and prime contractor.
Any other duties assigned by the project manager and Chief Engineer

Job Requirements:

Qualifications/ Experience, Skills & Abilities Required:

The Mechanical Engineer should have bachelor degree in civil/water engineering and at least 5 years relevant experience in water supply and sanitation activities with work preferably in rural areas in Afghanistan.
Ability to negotiate with construction companies or implementing partners in amendments of contracts and variation order in scope of works
Must be computer literate and familiar with basic computer software including MS Office.
Must be able to communicate well in Pashto, Dari and English.
Ability to evaluate the competencies of the contractors, their tools and experts.

Reporting to:                        

The Mechanical Engineer will report to Project Manager.
