About Ru-WatSIP/MRRD:

The National Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme (Ru-WatSIP) is one of the six closely interlinked National Development Programmes of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in Afghanistan. In line with Afghanistan National Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Policy, the responsibilities of this programme includes policy and strategy formulation, planning, coordination and implementation of rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene promotion activities undertaken by private sectors, NGOs and the rural communities namely Community Development Councils (CDCs) and District Development Assemblies (DDAs).

Ministry of Finance (MoF) , UNICEF, Spanish are granting Ru-WatSIP water supply projects in most of the provinces and rural areas of the country. Specially strategic pipe scheme projects namely; Zaranj, Badghis, Spin Boldak, Bangi and water supply project, etc,.

The implementation has been outsourced to private company and the daily supervision and regular monitoring is being conducted by Ru-WatSIP.

To ensure that project objectives are met through the planned activities there is need for hiring of Survey Engineer.

Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide feasibility study for water supply and irrigation projects.
Prepare /review AII technical survey in different construction projects. According MRRD Standard.
Provide preliminary and technical survey for water supply and irrigation projects.
Prepare project design and detail scope of the project in urgent cases.
Provide survey plan and projects mapping and drawing long section

, Cross sections of necessary areas

Guide and supervise junior monitors and prepare monthly survey plans.
Distinguish and analyze of suitable water supply irrigation sources.
Prepare technical survey data from the site by Instrument of survey including GPS.
Provide data collection irrigation projects and population density for each project.
Provide technical survey data to ensure detail project design and scope of work.
Specify quarries of local material close to project sites.
Report on technical progress.
Develop relationships with local authorities.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications/ Experience, Skills & Abilities Required:

At least bachelor degree in Engineering, specializing Technical Survey.
Experience of development data collection for water supply projects required.
A background in the preparation of mapping for engineering projects needs.
4 years survey experience in the Engineering survey field.
 Fluency in the English language is preferred.
Ability to use computers and have knowledge of MS Office and Auto Cad, GIS , Civil 3D ability to use modern survey instruments.

Reporting to:

The Survey Engineer will report to Head of Engineering, Senior Survey Engineer.
