Hydro-Geologist

About Ru-WatSIP/MRRD:

Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Department Ru-WatSIP is working in the structure of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development MRRD. The main responsibility of this department is provision of safe potable water and sanitation facilities as a basic need for allover rural inhabitants in the country.

In this programme many donors such as MoF, USAID, UNICEF, UNHCR, SDC, DFID, Japan Embassy, UAE and UNDP are providing financial assistance to MRRD for capacity building and implementation of water supply projects.

Recently Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development/ Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme, Ru-WatSIP through Ministry of finance (MoF) is implementing projects on Drinking Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion in different provinces of the country.

To ensure the objectives and targets in the project document are being achieved through the planned activities in provinces, there is need for hiring of a Hydro- Geologist

Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Analyze reports of drilling unit: drilling, sampling, logging etc
Review progress of works to ensure timely completion and provide Technical advice.
Record measurements and tests in accordance with project quality control.
Assist the Senior Hydro geologist in supervising of yield testing of the borehole if needed.
Assist the Senior Hydro geologist in Monitoring and Supervise of Well design (casing and screen setting depth) on the basis of geological and hydro geological data if needed.
Ensure quality pipe, screen and Select screen slot.
Ensure quality gravel pack material size based on geological formation.
Ensure development of well and water quality free of silt and clay.
Visit the project and drilling of wells while needed.
Assist the project team in Supervising of main pipe and service pipe layout.
Other duty as required.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications/ Experience, Skills & Abilities Required:

University relevant degree in Hydro-geology or equivalent
Familiarity with basic concept of hydrogeology
At least 4 years’ field experience in the similar activities
English knowledge will be an asset
Ability to use computers and have knowledge of: MS Office, Auto Cad will be an asset

Reporting to:

The Hydro geologist will report to Hydrogeology Manager and Project Senior Manager.
