About RPCO/MRRD:

The Mission of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) is to ensure the social, economic, and political welfare of rural society, especially poor and vulnerable people, through the provision of basic services, strengthening local governance, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.  MRRD accomplishes this mission through donor funded national programs in the areas of governance, infrastructure and economic growth.

The Regional Programs Coordination Office (RP) was established in the MRRD compound in 2007 as one of the largest rural support program in terms of scope and coverage area, working across the county. RP created a platform for sustainable community - based participatory irrigation infrastructure rehabilitation and development to increase farmers’ access to irrigation systems. The Goal of RP is to reduce poverty through implementation of productive infrastructures in rural communities. The purpose is poverty alleviation - enabling people to break the cycle of poverty, which begins with lack of opportunity, low income, extends to the well-known miseries of economic and nutritional poverty and leads new generations to endure the same conditions.
