The Acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Signs the Contract for the Second Phase of Wakhan's Gravel Road Construction

The contract for the construction of the second phase of the gravel road in Wakhan district of Badakhshan province—from Broghil to Bozha-e-Gumbad—was signed today in a formal ceremony by Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, with the Afghan Sadaqat Company. The event took place in the ministry’s conference hall with the participation of media representatives.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Acting Minister spoke about the importance and value of the road, stating that: "These areas have long been neglected, and their residents have been deprived of basic facilities. Therefore, the Islamic Emirate decided to construct a road in this region. Fortunately, with the efforts of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the first phase of this road has reached the zero point at the border with China. The construction work has been temporarily halted due to cold weather, but will resume as the weather improves."
Meanwhile, the honorable Minister further stated that today is a moment of joy as we witness the signing of the contract for the second phase of the construction of this road. The work will officially begin very soon, and this road will facilitate transportation for the citizens and, in the future, will become a transit route of economic value for both countries.
This road is 71 kilometers long, approximately 8 meters wide, and is being constructed at a cost of 143 million Afghanis. During the construction phase, it will provide employment opportunities for hundreds of workers, and upon completion, it will transform Wakhan into a commercial route.
At the end of the gathering, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development answered journalists' questions, and the event concluded with a prayer.
