The National food distribution program covers 90% of the country's population

H.E Mujib Rahman Karimi the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in today’s Press conference regarding the Dasterkhuwan mily (National food distribution program) stated that the national food distribution program will help families who have been financially affected by the coronavirus or families who are cared for by women, the elderly or people with disabilities.

Mr. Karimi added that the program will be implemented in two phases, the first phase will cover 12896 villages in 123 districts of 34 provinces with 1.85 million families living there, In the second phase, from 2.7 million families living in 21,824 villages in 234 districts, 2.5 million families will benefit from this program.

The Minister of MRRD also mentioned that the activities of the National Food Distribution Program will be soon started in one thousand villages and later on will be extended to other villages.

It should be noted that oversight, transparency and accountability are important principles in this Program and all stakeholders including development councils, scholars , mosque imams, influential people, members of civil society, media, teachers and youth have a key role in its implementation.
