19 Check dams are being built in Herat province by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

The Ministry of Rural rehabilitation and Development is constructing 19 check dams in nineteen districts of Herat province with a cost of 60 millions afghanis.

Out of these Today, on Thursday the construction of 7 check dams was initiated by the acting Minister Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Yunus Akhundzada and delegation.

In this meeting, the Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Alhaj Mullah

Muhammad Yunus Akhundzada,director of rural rehabilitation and development of Herat Mualavi Abdul Salaam Hejrat, director of rural rehabilitation and development of Helmand Mullah Mahmmod Sani, a number of provincial officials, along with local scholars and young people, participated.

The construction of these check Dams will provide employment to hundreds of laborers in region.

These check Dams will retain rainwater, and maintain the groundwater level.
