Hydraulic Engineer - (Re announced)

About Ru-WatSIP/MRRD:

Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme (Ru-WatSIP) is working in the structure of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development MRRD as one of the national program. The main responsibility of this Program is provision of safe potable water and sanitation facilities as a basic need for allover rural inhabitants in the country.

In this programme donors such as UNICEF, MoF and SAARC are providing financial assistance to MRRD for capacity building and implementation of water supply projects.

Recently Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development/ Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programme, through MOF funding launched National large scale project as construction of Qadis Khordak Water storage Dam for the purpose of water resources management, flood control, land irrigation and environment protection in Qadis district of Badghis province. The implementation will be carried out by construction company (CC) where the daily supervision and regular monitoring is being done by Ru-WatSIP/RRD technical Team.

To ensure that the projects are implemented with quality and planed objectives as per the project document, there is need for hiring a Hydraulic Engineer.

Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform review of different aspects of project plans including, structural and hydraulic analysis of irrigation systems
Assisting the analysis and evaluation of Hydraulics structures and irrigation system designs.
Help with reviewing hydrological analysis of Irrigation structures projects.
Assisting implementation of design and construction Irrigation system and hydraulics structures projects.
Good knowledge of crop water requirement,
Good knowledge in planning, design of different irrigation system and hydraulics structures.
Has to work with a team of engineer, water management specialist, consultant and technicians involved in designing, extension of  irrigation systems and hydraulics structures,
Establishing good relationships with Irrigation system projects’ stakeholders;
Establishing operation plan for irrigation systems and hydraulics structures.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and MRRD preferences.
Assess Irrigation/Hydraulic structures projects staff capacities and develop training needs recommendation plans for MRRD staff;
Assist in assuring that work is done on schedule and to quality standards.
Preparation of the monthly activity reports.
Attending the technical meetings, meetings with MRRD and meetings with contractors and others.
Performs any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills according to (NTA)

The candidate shall have at least Bachelor degree in irrigation, Civil engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the related field.
Experienced with design of irrigation/hydraulic structures including; spillways, conveyance structures, regulating structures, protective structures, cross drainage work structures and diversion dams.
Knowledge of hydraulic and structural relation between Concrete/Earthen dams and Hydraulic structures.
Knowledge of geotechnical engineering, testing, embankment etc.

Reporting line:

The Hydraulic Engineer will report to Project Manager
