Descriptive report of the Directorate of Coordination and Disaster Response (DCDR) during the first 6 months of 1398

Achievements:

  1. Department of Coordination and Response to Disaster:

320 tents, 1650 blankets, 722 tarpaulins, 1057 buckets, 197 medical kits, 1490 bowls, 1648 glasses, 379 plates, 1538 spoons, 1538 forks, 442 pots, 874 frying pans, 457 first aid kit, 470 stethoscopes, 487 thermometers, 2944 masks, 60 clothes, 5960 gallons, 3152 empty sacks and 30 lanterns have been distributed to 726 families in Badghis, Baghlan, Samangan, Faryab, Kapisa, Kunduz, Kandhar, Kunar, Nangarhar, and Herat provinces that were affected by natural disasters.

  1. Department of Coordination and Reintegration for Returnees and IDPs:
    1. Distributing Humanitarian Aid:

450 tents, 2028 blankets, 574 tarpaulins, 208 buckets, 32 gallons, 271 medical kits, 531 bowls,  508 glasses, 224 plates, 671 spoons, 671 forks, 128 pots, 82 frying  pans, 266 first aid kits, 250 stethoscopes, 250 thermometers, 1145 masks, 263 kitchen sets, 264 jumpers, 100 pairs of boots and rain boots, 25 lanterns,  10 water reservoirs have been distributed to 623 returned and internal displaced families in Uruzgan, Badghis, Jawzjan, Samangan, Ghazni, Ghor, Faryab, Farah, Kunduz, Kandahar and Kunar provinces.

    1. Humanitarian Aid Transfers:

The DCDR of MRRD due to climate change, severe winter of 2018 and demand of PRRDs, dispatched 15 non-food items from the MRRD storage including 2300 tents, 11500 blankets, 2649 tarpaulins, 5700 glasses, 5700 yogurt bowls, 5700 spoons, 5700 forks, 1379 plates, 1379 pots, 1379 frying pans, 1179 first aid kits, 1179 pen-shaped thermometers, 1179 stethoscopes, and 13400 masks; from 12 – 16 June to PRRDs for distributing in 13 provinces (Faryab, Jawzjan, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Sarpul, Bamyan, Daikundi, Khost, Paktika, Badghis, Farah, Zabul and Kandahar) that faced with shortage of non-food items in order to meet the needs of IDPs, returnees and disaster victims. These non-food items were transported by a private transportation company named Haris to PRRDs.

  1. General Department of Coordination and Organizing for Food Assistance:

In the last six months, the WFP has implemented 11 generating asset projects for purpose of 1759.63 metric tons of mixed food in 4 provinces and 11 districts in coordination with DCDR and PRRDs. The 1086.23 metric tons of the above mentioned food have been distributed for generating assets that 7459 persons have been benefited and 733218 working days have been generated.  Implementation of these projects led to the construction and rehabilitation of streets, canal cleaning and retaining wall construction.

  1. Non-Achievements:

1.4. Dispatch of 30,000 boxes of gabion after the procurement process to the covered provinces.

  1. Preparations: MRRD non-food items storages:
    1. Central storage:

There are 3,468 big tents, 569 small tents, 13,613 big size blankets, 5,500 small size blankets, 1,244 tarpaulins, 1,488 covered buckets, 2,375 glasses, 381 pans, 381 pots, 1,290 plates, 2,788 forks, 2,225 spoons, 2,225 bowls, 281 first aid kits, 81 thermometers,  7,645 masks, and 181 blood pressure stethoscopes available in the central storage that will be distributed when needed.

    1. Provincial Storages:

There 2,544 gabion boxes, 8,094 tents, 42,629 blankets, 15,027 gallons, 2,439 lanterns, 33 plastic water storages, 5,121 sacks, 9,155 tarpaulins, 2,407 kitchen sets, 7,153 winter clothes, 1,035 pairs of boots and rain boots, 2,600 pairs of socks, 150 carpets, 15,664 plastic buckets, 412 plastic sheets, 59 gas cylinders, 3,052 medical kits, 451 shovels, 229 gravel shovels, 71 wheelbarrows, 870 hygiene kits, 17,896 glasses, 18,585 bowls, 17,815 spoons, 17,588 forks, 4,102 plates, 4,493 pots, 5,184 pans, 8,258 first aid kits, 4,532 stethoscopes, 4,682 thermometers, and 48,820 medical masks available are in provincial storages and after survey will be distributed to the victims of the disasters in cooperation with provincial emergency committee.

  1. Coordination and Meetings:
    1. Administrative meetings with Directorate of Coordination and Disaster Response staffs in the office of the director of Directorate of Coordination and Disaster Response to improve working affairs.
    2. One person attending the monthly meeting of the UNHCR agency.

    3. Lack of access to insecure provinces
