MRRD signs 130 Irrigation Projects with a total cost of 371 million Afs.

Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development signed contracts for 130 irrigation projects with Rural Development Councils.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development H.E. Nasir Ahmad Durrani signed the contracts at a press conference in the presence of representatives of Rural Development Councils and journalists.
H.E. Nasir Ahmad Durrani said: “The new development projects signed today are with the cost of over 371 million Afs. These projects will be implemented in the provinces of Samangan, Faryab, Baghlan, Ghowr, Kapisa, Kabul, Laghman, Kuner, Nangarhar, Parwan, Panjshir, Ghazni, Sarepul, Jowzjan, Badakhshan, Maidan Wardak and Kundoz.”  
These projects will mainly build roads, bridges, water intakes, canals and protective wall in the mentioned provinces – casting direct positive impacts on the lives of our farmers.
The Minister also reiterated the importance of these projects, saying “Irrigation Projects like development of water intakes, canals, bridges, protective walls and roads will have direct impact on people’s life. After implementation of such projects, they are given the enabling environment for improved irrigation and market linkages. The roads will help them to carry out their products to markets easily. The benefits from their products will bring lots of changes in their economic life.”
H.E. Nasir Ahmad Durrani added: “With the implementation of these projects, we will be able to create about 206,549 working days, which will play a significant role in reducing unemployment in the villages." He also said about 736,611 villagers will benefit from these projects.
These projects will be implemented by the National Regional Program of MRRD.
It is worth mentioning that during the last two years, the National Regional Program of MRRD has implemented 809 Projects with total cost of 4.3 billion Afs – helping create over 1,604,977 working days for villagers. About 3,271,250 villagers have benefited from the implemented projects.
