Commencement of underground water survey project in Faryab province

Protocol of commencement of underground water survey in Faryab province and capacity building of water supply engineers signed in the conference hall of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

Initially few verses from the Holly Quran were recited, and then Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development H.E Jarullah Mansoori has spoken regard the importance and value of the said project, counted the lack of safe drinking water and recent droughts main problem of rural communities. He said in order to solve this problem we need the accurate survey of underground waters, surface sources, springs and affective use of them.  

Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development further added:

This project is funded by the Norwegian state and is driven by the experts of that country with the goal of; to survey the underground water in Faryab, exploration of underground water in the said province, drilling of wells and evaluation of alternative routes in Faryab province. The other fundamental benefit that the project will do is growth and capacity building of water supply engineer’s of the MRRD and Ministries of mine and energy and water.

Subsequently Deputy Ambassador of Norway has spoken and said:

Afghanistan is a country that suffer from droughts  the problem of Afghanistan will have not solve with short-term projects, fundamental and long-term projects need to be taken up, we cooperation in funding of this project with the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in order to achieve its goals. Faryab province is one of those provinces which is highly affected by the droughts and flash floods. Water shortage has created problems in the field of agriculture and livestock farming, we initiated our pilot project in Faryab province and our purpose is to bring changes in the lives of people in Faryab province.

At the end Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and Deputy Ambassador of Norway answered to the questions of journalists.

Agreement of the mentioned projects was signed last year between the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and Norwegian country worth of five million U.S. $, its practical work was initiated by the Norwegian company now.
