Press conference about the activities of the MRRD in the first six months of current year

Honorable Jarullah Mansoori Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development participated in a Press Conference in Government Media and Information Center presented information to the Journalists about the achievements of first quarter and second quarter of 1390(solar year) and further added:

The total projects of first quarter and second quarter of current year reaching to 2337 projects which have been implemented in 1541 villages of 34 provinces at a cost of AFN three billion, 287 million and 341 thousand. The projects provided different pre-requisite facilities in different fields to 4425154 inhabitants of the villages across the country.

The development projects of first quarter and second quarter include construction and repairing of 906 kilometer secondary and tertiary rural roads, building of 42898 meter retaining and gabion walls, construction of 766 culverts, construction and extension of 89 water supply networks, digging of 3184 shallow and deep safe drinking water wells, construction of seven water intakes length of 3000 meter which can irrigate 700 acre land, construction and cleaning of canals length of 44817 meter which can irrigate 30509 acre agricultural land, construction and protection of 228 irrigation system including water intake, water reservoirs, construction of 12 buildings for the MRRD, construction of 103 micro hydro-power plants, distribution of 79 solar productive units, construction of 169 Community Centers, extension of 45786 meter urban electricity, construction of 360 meter bridges, construction of nine clinics, schools, nine public baths, and 11 mills, construction of 559 bathrooms and concreting of 58045 meter sidewalks, preparation of 200 Tankers in order to transfer drinking water to the vulnerable and drought stricken villages, preparation of 30 Tractors to the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Departments in order to provide facilities to the farmers of rural communities and training of 544 rural inhabitants in carpets weaving and beekeeping in various villages across the country. Of these projects 1825 have been implemented through National Solidarity Program and 512 other projects have been implemented and handed-over through other national programs of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).

It is worth mentioning that the total budget for year 1390 was about USD 398 million, 620 thousand and 170 of which 167 million and 156 thousand have been spent. It shows that 42 percent budget of the current year have been spent.

Additional from the above said projects, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development have been implemented 55 utility projects in second quarter of this year in Badakhshan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar and Nimrooz provinces through Work for Food Program.

These projects include construction of 55 kilometer mountainous sidewalk road, repairing of 2165 Km rural road, cleaning of 4092 meter irrigation canal, 93 kilometer karez, 105 water reservoirs, preparing of 200 gabion boxes for the vulnerable sides of the river, smoothing of 63959 meter area in schools for creation of green space, cleaning of four célèbre, construction of 300 meter retaining wall and extension of 900 meter pipe system for providing of water. In this process 5349 metric ton food have been distributed to the workers one million and 800 thousand rural people benefiting these projects in various sections.

At the end of the conference contracts for buying of 50 equipped Tractors signed by Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development with Private Construction Companies for different projects and provinces.
