MRRD Minister Travels to the Provinces of Sar-e-Pul, Balkh and Jawzjan

Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development along with Executive Directors of National Rural Access, Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Irrigation Programmes and Communication and Public Relations Director of the MRRD traveled to the provinces of Sar-e-Pul, Balkh and Jawzjan.

H.E Barmak on the first day of his trip, while accompanied by the director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) visited Sar-e-Pul Province, met the local authorities and elders of the province. Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development promised with the villagers that one million USD will be spent on the reconstruction of projects in the flood-damaged areas with the cooperation of USAID.

The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in the afternoon of the first day of his trip after meeting with Governor Ata Mohammad Noor Governor of Balkh province, went to Nahr-e-Shahi district of Balkh province informed the people from the USD 30 million NSP Phase II block grants to CDC’s in 11 districts of Balkh province that will give to those CDC’s who have been successfully spent their block grants in phase I of NSP.

Subsequently, H.E Wais Ahmad Barmak participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Nahr-e-Shahi DDA compound, inaugurated and handed-over the compound with the cutting of the ribbon.

This compound has been constructed in 600-acre land basically at a cost of USD 110000 from the budget of NABDP/MRRD with the cooperation of Un-Habitat. The compound has conference hall, meeting hall, offices for the members of the District Development Assembly (DDA), kitchen and bathroom.

On the second day of his trip H.E Wais Ahmad and his accompaniers visited Jawzjan province, they welcomed by the Governor, chief commander, provincial officials and elders of the said province .

Afterwards, H.E Barmak participated in a meeting which was held in the conference hall of that province with the participation of Najibullah Ozhan Minister of Public Works, Governor, Chief Commander, CDC and DDA members, influential’s  and elders. He spoke regard the development activities of the MRRD in Jawzjan province and phase II of block grants to CDC’s in the two districts of the mentioned province, further added:

“The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development have been allocated USD three million block grants for the second phase of NSP to the CDC’s for Darzab and Khumab districts of Jawzjan province. I demand from you to take up the best projects in your priorities. The other good news that I have for the inhabitants of this province is the allocation of USD two million for the projects of rural roads that would spend through the National Rural Access program of the MRRD.”

At the end of this travel Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development while accompanied by the Governor, Khwaja Dokoh district governor, elders and influential’s of the area visited flood-hit areas in various villages of Khwaja Dokok district and tasked the relative in-charges to solve the problems of the flood-victims as soon as possible.
